Don’t try this at home…or school…or the track…or the beach?

Recently, an Australian native posted an absolutely insane video of himself doing the pole vaulting equivalent of a basketball trick shots, complete with flips, and death defying falls.

The tricks, performed by three-time national pole vaulting champion Joel Pocklington, was recently profiled after losing his father to cancer. Joel’s father was also an athlete, who made the finals of the 60m dash at the Masters World Championships in 2009, well into his 50s.

In the clip Pocklington displays his unreal pole vaulting skills, in addition to implementing gymnastic maneuvers. Perhaps most shockingly, Pocklington also pole vaults off of a cliff.

Yes, a cliff.

Other stunts include the pole vaulting standout using uneven bars, and catching a ball kicked by friend, all in the midst of his vault. These have become a regular occurrence for Joel, who has a YouTube series titles ‘Joel’s Crazy Tricks’, in which the track and field standout continues to one-up himself.

“You need that superman mentality,” Pocklington told the Runner’s Tribe last year. “You need to be able to put those things behind you and go ‘stuff it, I’m just gonna run down and do it!”

Pocklington again won the pole vaulting national title in 2013, and dedicated it to his late father. As of May 27, All-Athletics.com has him listed as No. 58 in the world in the sport.

You can check out Pocklington’s video below, and please, I repeat please, don’t try this at home…or school…or the track…or the beach. Basically don’t try it at all.
