The career of tight end Jermichael Finley is most certainly in flux as the serious injury he suffered against the Cleveland Browns last season not only put his playing career into doubt but made us all wonder if he’d even be able to walk ever again. Finly is up and mobile and not only is he walking but he’s ready to run onto an NFL field once again.

More from Green Bay Packers

According to Tyler Dunne of the Journal Sentinel, Finley is going to undergo testing with the Green Bay Packers this week which is a sign that he may be ready to return to football, even if some don’t think that’s the best move for his overall long term health.

"Suffice to say, this can still go in several different directions. Finley meeting with the Packers again is a first step.Coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson have maintained optimism. On SiriusXM NFL Radio two weeks ago, McCarthy said Finley is “doing everything and beyond to get himself ready” and that “In my mind he is a Green Bay Packer.”"

The best case scenario for Finley is that he returns to the Packers and triumphantly takes the field again after it looked like he may struggle to once again walk. But he seems to be coming along very well from his spinal cord injury and while some may want to see him stay on the sidelines and raise him family, it’s hard to take the football out of the player even if we saw how easily the player can be taken out of football.

In this era of head injury awareness, the will of a player is better known now than it ever has been and while it’s admirable for a player to want to beat the odds and return tot he game he loves no matter what, we have to wonder if it’s heroic or if it’s just careless.
