Washington Wizards will need to give Marcin Gortat up to $12M
By Josh Hill
The Washington Wizards put together a more than surprising season this year and nearly found a way to get past the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. But while they couldn’t keep their dream season going beyond the second round, the next task is to keep this winning roster as intact as possible while also finding money to add to the roster and find the missing pieces needed.

One player that the Wizards are going to have to figure out what to do with is Marcin Gortat, who is going to get a lot of attention in free agency thanks to the season he put together with Washington.
If the Wiz plan on keeping Gortat, which is part of their plan, then Michael Lee of The Washington Post reports that around $10 million to $12 million will be needed to do so.
That’s a bit of a problem if you’re Washington as other pieces are needed in free agency and there’s still money that needs to be spent on the roster as it is. Trevor Ariza was a big role player for the Wizards this year and Lee reports around $9 million will be needed to keep him.
It will be an interesting offseason for the Wizards, but it will no doubt be a challenge to keep this roster intact especially with plenty of other teams looking to poach their available talent the first chance they can get.
