The Road to Omaha may become a short one for the No. 6 national seed Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, as they were upset by the upstart Jackson State Tigers in the regional round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

This is being called one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Baseball Tournament history, and will certainly make the path to Omaha and the College World Series a little more interesting for a few teams should the Ragin’ Cajuns fall in the double-elimination round.

Jackson State topped the Cajuns by a slim 1-0 margin, the first time that La.-Lafayette had been shut out this entire season.

The two teams are in the Lafayette, La. regional, which makes this upset all the more shocking as the Cajuns were the host team. The Ragin’ Cajuns must now face San Diego State — who lost earlier today to Mississippi State — in an elimination game for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers, for their part, will now move on to play the Bulldogs on Saturday night.

The winner of the Lafayette region will go on to play the winner of the Oxford, Ms. regional in the Super-Regional round, which is a best of three series.
