New York Jets rookie QB Tajh Boyd: Geno Smith has been the offense

Well, and it’s been rather confusing, too.
Newcomer to the team, veteran Michael Vick, has continually stated that he will not be the starter, rather second-year signal-caller Geno Smith will be resuming that duty, despite the harsh struggles from his rookie year.
Then, there’s head coach Rex Ryan who admitted this week that there is absolutely a competition between Vick and Smith, and nothing is guaranteed.
On Friday, we got a little bit more insight into the situation, this time from rookie Tajh Boyd, who the team drafted two weeks ago; and according to the ACC record-breaker, it’s Smith’s show.
“Geno has been pretty much … he’s been the offense,” Boyd told Around The League at the Rookie NFLPA Premiere on Friday. “You know, right now, it’s his team. But, I mean, at the end of the day, you want to go out there and do everything that’s possible to win. If Geno gives us the best chance to win, he’s going to start. If Mike gives us the best chance to win, he’ll start.”
After that statement, Boyd was then flat-out asked if Geno Smith is in fact the starting quarterback, to which he replied with a clear answer.
“Yes, sir,” Boyd replied.
