The search for a new head coach by the Utah Jazz may be heading for a conclusion in the coming week. "Multiple sources tell The Tribune that Chicago Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin will interview a second time for Utah’s head coaching vacancy. The interview is scheduled to take place some time in the next week. The Tribune has confirmed that Atlanta Hawks assistant Quin Snyder has interviewed once with Utah, and like Griffin, has been called back for a second interview.Sources also say there may be another candidate that hasn’t yet surfaced publicly."
Adrian Griffin joined the Bulls coaching staff along with Tom Thibodeau in 2010 and has been a candidate linked to several head coach opening around the association, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, who interviewed Griffin last Tuesday. Adrian Griffin spent nine seasons in the NBA as a player for a number of teams, including the Bulls from 2004-05 and again from 2006-08. Griffin is regarded as another defensive specialist coach, similarly to Thibodeau’s well known style of coaching.
Quin Snyder spent last season with the Atlanta Hawks as their head assistant after a season coaching under Ettore Messina of CKSA Moscow. He had previously been the head coach of the Austin Toros, the D-League team of the San Antonio Spurs, and later spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers.
Both candidates have been widely considered as top assistants primed to take a head coaching job, and may be on the lists of other teams that have yet to interview them. The young roster the Jazz have will certainly be enticing to either candidate if they are offered the position.
