The Los Angeles Kings were up 3-1 over the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference Finals and have had numerous opportunities to close out the series and punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup.

More from Chicago Blackhawks

Unfortunately for the Kings, Chicago has been able to hang tough and show why they are the defending Stanley Cup champions.

On Friday night, the Blackhawks held off Los Angeles once again and now they have forced a Game 7 to determine who will be the Western Conference representative against the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup Finals.

It has been disappointing for the Kings, but they plan to finally finish what they started when they take the ice in Game 7.

“I’m frustrated, but I’m over it pretty quickly. We’ve got another game to play, Game 7,” said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, via LA Kings Insider. “We’ve had two chances to close out this series and we’re not going to blow the third one.

“Yeah, it helps and I think this is a good thing for our hockey club. I don’t think we played enough desperate hockey these last two games and I think that’s kind of why we lost both of them. It’s about time that we get to that type of game that the LA Kings play.”

With the way this series has gone, there is no guarantee on who will come away with the win.

Chicago seems to have all of the momentum and they can rely on their biggest stars to get them back to the Stanley Cup Finals, but the Kings plan on finishing what they started when they jumped out to such an early lead in the series.
