Marcus Stroman makes first MLB start Saturday for Blue Jays
By Dan Zinski
The Blue Jays on Friday recalled Marcus Stroman from AAA Buffalo, and the team isn’t wasting any time getting the Baseball Prospectus #27 prospect in the majors out on the hill. The Jays have shuffled their rotation to give Stroman the start on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals, and will move original starter Drew Hutchison back to Tuesday.

Stroman had a stint with the big club earlier in the year, posting an ugly 12.79 ERA in five relief appearances. He was sent back to AAA in mid-May and got a couple of starts but didn’t exactly tear it up, allowing 7 runs in 9 innings. Now, with the Jays searching for another starting pitcher, they are giving Stroman a look.
To make room for Stroman, the Jays DFA’d pitcher Bobby Korecky.
The Jays, who are surprise leaders of the AL East at this early juncture, probably need to add another quality arm to their rotation if they want to fend off the rest of the division. The team has been mentioned in rumors involving the Cubs’ Jeff Samardzija and the Royals’ James Shields.
