Friday’s Red Sox-Rays game had everything, including a bean-ball war, a bench-clearing brawl and multiple ejections. Such a crazy game had to have an appropriately crazy and somewhat violent ending, and we were not disappointed.

The curtain was brought down on the Friday night Boston poopshow by A.J. Pierzynski who smacked a triple into centerfield in the bottom of the 10th, giving Boston a 3-2 win. On the play, Rays outfielders Desmond Jennings and Will Myers had themselves a little unplanned meeting of the painful variety. Did Myers hold up just a tad to avoid Jennings, causing him to miss the ball?

When the Rays and Red Sox get together, you are going to see some wackiness. It’s too bad neither team is really relevant in the race right now. Toronto is pretty much ready to run away with it, which of course is what everyone expected before the season started.

Or not.

Which of these teams has the better chance of somehow crawling back into the race? I’m going with Tampa, just because Joe Maddon is a mad genius and he will figure something out, possibly involving aroma therapy or Tibetan throat singing or bringing in a voodoo priestess to sacrifice an animal. That dude is weird.
