Blue Jays’ Mark Buehrle is the first pitcher to 10 wins
By Dan Zinski
Mark Buehrle, the guy who famously never looks at a scouting report and never shakes off his catcher, is having a whale of a season for the Toronto Blue Jays. On Sunday Buehrle became the first pitcher in the majors to 10 wins, defeating the Kansas City Royals for his sixth straight winning decision.

Buehrle gave up no runs on six hits and a walk in eight innings of work. Edwin Encarnacion was the hitting star for Toronto, clubbing his 19th home run of the season.
Buehrle is now 10-1 on the 2014 campaign with a 2.10 ERA, the second best in the AL behind only Masahiro Tanaka. With his tenth win, the 35-year-old Buehrle now stands just four victories shy of 200 for his career.
At 10-1 with that ERA, Buehrle has a great shot at winning the first Cy Young award of his career. Unless he completely falls apart the rest of the season, he is almost a lock to best his highest Cy Young finish ever, which came in 2005 when he placed fifth.
Meanwhile, Edwin Encarnacion continues his assault on major league pitching. Is there a chance the Blue Jays could end up with the Cy Young winner and the MVP? It’s possible.
