It seems inevitable that the Minnesota Timberwolves and star power forward Kevin Love will be parting ways.

More from Boston Celtics

Whether that happens on draft night, during the 2014-2015 season or after next season when he become an unrestriced free agent is the question.

If the Timberwolves do decide to trade Love soon, the Boston Celtics, along with several other teams potentially including the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers, will be in a bidding war to acquire his services. The Celtics, who hold the sixth-overall pick in this month’s 2014 NBA Draft, have several assets from the deal that sent Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets and have a few young, talented players the Timberwolves could be interested in.

Over the weekend, Love was spotted in Boston, which of course, brought all of the Love-to-the-Celtics rumors back to the forefront. Then, on Sunday, Love decided to head to Fenway Park to attend the Boston Red Sox game against the Tampa Bay Rays. As Love watched the Red Sox earn their seventh straight victory with a 4-0 win, he was greeted by Celtics’ point guard Rajon Rondo.

Every team would clearly want Love on their team and if he teamed up with a healthy Rondo and the Celtics made a few other moves, perhaps evening bringing Paul Pierce back, they may not be immediate contenders, but it would certainly be a great foundation.

Love averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game this season. Rondo was limited just 30 games while returning from his knee injury and averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
