Yoenis Cespedes throws out two Angels runners at the plate in the same inning (Video)

After coming from Cuba a few years ago and signing with the Oakland A’s’ of all teams, Yoenis Cespedes hasn’t completely lived up to the billing. After a great rookie season in which he finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting and hit .292 with 23 home runs, he’s tailed off at the plate. He still showed good power last year, hitting 26 home runs, but he hit just .240 with an OBP under .300.

Again this year he is hitting just .245. He still has an absolute cannon of arm in left field, however, and against the Los Angeles Angels, he showed it off on multiple occasions last night, throwing two Angels runners out at the plate in the top of the 2nd inning.
The first instance came with no outs and runners on first and second base. Collin Cowgill laced a single to left and Chris Iannetta was waved on home as he rounded third. Cespedes came up gunning, however, and threw a laser that had Iannetta dead by about 10 feet.
Then with runners on first and second again, this time with two outs, Cespedes again showed off his arm. Grant Green took a pitch that was low and away and reached out to poke one into left field. It was straight at Cespedes though, and once again he came up ready to unleash a bullet right at the plate. Kole Calhoun had no shot as Cespedes’ throw was right on the money to end the inning in a most impressive fashion.
