6. Toronto FC

Ryan Nelsen’s Toronto FC are on the way up after a couple of mixed results. Against the Montreal Impact on Wednesday at BMO Field, Doneil Henry scored in the 20th minute but TFC were unable to hold on and were consigned to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the 2014 Amway Canadian Championship final. On Saturday, a Jermain Defoe brace in the 21st and 81st minutes combined with a game-winner from Henry in the second minute of second half stoppage time game the Reds a 3-2 win over the Columbus Crew at BMO Field.

Toronto have a couple of matches this week. On June 4, TFC travel to Stade Saputo in Montreal, Que. to face the Impact in the second leg of the Canadian Championship final. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by Sportsnet One. On June, Toronto FC host the San Jose Earthquakes at BMO Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET and will be televised by MLS LIVE and TSN.

7. New England Revolution

Jay Heaps’s New England Revolution were forced to eat humble pie after getting shut out by the Montreal Impact, 2-0, at Stade Saputo. The Revs will look to return to their usual winning ways on June 8 against the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET and will be televised by MLS LIVE.

    9. Portland Timbers

    Caleb Porter’s Portland Timbers experienced a hit-and-miss week. Fanendo Adi’s brace in the 65th and 71st minutes gave the Timbers a 2-0 shutout victory over Chivas USA on Wednesday at StubHub Center. On Sunday, despite goals from Maximiliano Urruti (3′), Gaston Fernandez (77′) and Will Johnson (86′), the Timbers fell short and fell to the Vancouver Whitecaps, 4-3, at Providence Park. Up next for Portland is a match with Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on June 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET and will be televised by Univision Deportes.

    10. Montreal Impact

    Frank Klopas’s Montreal Impact move up after a good pair of results. At BMO Field, Justin Mapp scored in the 73rd minute to give the Impact a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC in the first leg of the 2014 Amway Canadian Championship on Wednesday. On Saturday at Stade Saputo, goals from Andres Romero (3′) and Jack McInerney (38′) paced L’Impact to a 2-0 shutout win over the New England Revolution. Montreal host Toronto FC in the second leg of the Canadian Championship final on June 4. A scoreless draw or a win will be enough for L’Impact to return to the CONCACAF Champions League. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by Sportsnet One.
