Following the lost of linebacker Sean Lee, the Cowboys were thought to be on the market for a replacement, with Brian Urlacher being one of the sexiest names on the market. However, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett doesn’t seem to have as much interest in Urlacher as the media may have.

In the article linked in the tweet, Garrett made a couple of interesting points, citing the guys they drafted and their veterans as possible replacements for Lee at middle linebacker.

"“We have 90 guys on our roster that we’re excited about,” Garrett said when asked about Urlacher. “We drafted a couple of linebackers, we have some young guys we feel good about, so we want to give those guys every opportunity. We have some veteran players who weren’t completely healthy all last year, so we want to make sure they have an opportunity to work at some of those spots inside and just see who on our football team right now rises to the occasion. We’ve got to make sure we give them every opportunity. We’re always looking at the landscape of players – free agents on the street, trade opportunities, anybody who we think can help our football team at any position – we’re always doing that. But we like the guys we have right now and the competition we have going.”"

Those drafted include a couple of outside linebackers in Antony Hitchens of Iowa and Will Smith of Texas Tech. However, the team lacks a true defensive leader without Lee.

Urlacher, however, did not play in the league last season and would be a risky addition to any team, especially a highly-criticized team like the Cowboys. However, necessity might force the issue with the Cowboys in desperate need of a replacement.
