NBA Rumors: Celtics willing to trade No. 6 pick for Kevin Love
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves are quickly realizing that they need to trade Kevin Love sooner rather than later as to avoid losing out on the trade value he has at the moment. It appears that not trading him at the deadline in February was a good move as Love has never been more valuable than he is right at this moment, but the question is whether or not the Wolves will have the brains to trade him.
While there have been teams mentioned with Love in the past, it appears that there is now a list of finalists starting to come down and the frontrunners are identifying themselves.
As Sean Deveney of The Sporting News points out, the Boston Celtics remain frontrunners to land Kevin Love if for nothing else other than they are the ones that seem most interested at the moment in getting a deal done. As it stands now Boston is willing to throw in the No. 6 overall pick in the draft plus players to acquire Love but that’s easier said than done.
Boston doesn’t have much to offer though beyond the No. 6 pick though as they aren’t willing to give up Rajon Rondo and their younger players aren’t really that attractive in a deal. Still, they do seem to be the top players in the Kevin Love sweepstakes and that is a good start for the Celtics.
Rondo won’t ever be part of a trade offer, but the No. 6 pick is a great place to start and if the Celtics continue to press the issue, they may convince the Wolves to trade them another one of their star players so many years after doing the same to acquire Kevin Garnett.
