Ever since the Boston Celtics’ “Big Three” started to break apart, there have been rumors about the team trading Rajon Rondo. According to some reports, some deals involving Rondo have almost been completed before one of the two sides backed out.

More from Boston Celtics

With Rondo’s contract up at the end of this year, trade talks involving the mercurial point guard are sure to pick up steam as we approach the draft; and if he survives the offseason, there will surely be new rumors almost weekly once the season actually begins.

Even now, in the early part of June, and with the NBA Finals not even finished, Rondo is being asked questions about his future with the team. Today Rondo answered numerous questions at the team’s facility–mostly regarding his now famous meeting with Kevin Love at a Red Sox game over the weekend. He downplayed any recruiting he did during the brief encounter, saying he merely told Love to enjoy his time in the city.

But of course, no Rondo interview could be complete without someone asking about his future with the Celtics. And as he’s done many times, Rondo expressed his desire to stay in the city.

Unfortunately for Rondo, it may not be up to him whether he stays or not. Danny Ainge is no stranger to making big moves, and if he feels he can get enough value for Rondo, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him go.
