NBA Draft 2014: Rodney Hood to work out for Denver Nuggets
By Brad Rowland
With the 2014 NBA Draft approaching in just over three weeks, workouts for prospective draftees have intensified a great deal, and teams are becoming less and less shy about the players they have approached. In addition to that, teams have begun to bring in players for their second tours, and in the case of former Duke swingman Rodney Hood, he is reportedly set to hold a “private” workout with the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-9 Hood is an incredibly talented offensive player, and he would be an interesting fit with the Nuggets should they choose to draft him. Because Denver currently holds the 11th pick in the draft, they will likely get a crack at selecting Hood, as he is currently thought to be a target of teams in the late lottery and mid-1st round range.
In their latest mock drafts, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman projects Rodney Hood to land with the Chicago Bulls with the 16th overall pick, and Draft Express pegs Hood to the Atlanta Hawks with the 15th overall pick. His pedigree as an impressive scorer at Duke, even alongside Jabari Parker, makes him a fascinating target for teams that have playoff aspirations right away, and he would make a ton of sense for both Chicago and Atlanta, as they both possess needs for offense on the perimeter.
This won’t be the last report of a workout with Rodney Hood, and there is a real possibility that he could contribute in a significant way from the first time he sets foot on an NBA floor.
