It’s about damn time.

It’s about time someone called out Kevin Love instead of coddling him. It’s about time someone told him to quit his whining and let his play, not his mouth, do the talking.

On Saturday, newly appointed (by himself) Timberwolves head coach said Kevin Love had no right to feel frustrated. Finally, someone who isn’t afraid to speak the truth. Flip said the same thing to Kevin Garnett, and that turned out just fine, if you’ll recall.

Some might call Flip’s self-hiring a perfectly typical Timberwolves move, an exemplary display of the nepotism that’s permeated the franchise for years, to which I say: good! When did nepotism get such a bad name anyways? 50 years ago, we all would have been working for our fathers, working under the beating sun for 12 hours a day, and we would have been damn proud to do so!

But not this generation. This generation sees fit to whine and pout and stomp their feet until they get their way. They don’t want to work anymore, they want everything handed to them. Just look at Kevin Love, who would rather bolt for another franchise than stay and work to make this one a success. He wants out of Minnesota because he’s tired of losing, tired of the team’s inability to surround him with something even approaching a playoff-caliber roster.

And whose fault is that, really? If you’re so tired of losing, Kevin, why not start winning? Have you ever thought of that? If you’re so upset about the lack of bench scoring, then don’t ever leave the game! Just play all 48 minutes, all 82 games! What a simple solution! Frustrated? Don’t make me laugh — you’re just making excuses. Well, mister, there’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Flip Saunders, and he eats excuses for breakfast.
