Los Angeles holds the No. 7 pick in the draft and will be looking to shop it in an effort to land Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves. But should they hang onto the pick, the Lakers have a slew of options at No. 7 overall and one of those options is Nik Stauskas from Michigan. The only problem with Stauskas is that he missed his originally scheduled workout with the Lakers after hurting his shoulder.
According to ESPN.com’s Chad Ford, the Lakers have rescheduled their workout with Nik Stauskas and will be having him in for a look.
Stauskas going No. 7 overall is a bit of a reach but the Lakers could take him and then flip him in a trade with the Wolves, Bulls or any other team that covets a scoring threat like Stauskas presents. Los Angeles has a lot of needs on their roster and Stauskas indeed fills a few of them but he’s a reach where they’re picking and isn’t likely at this point.
Still, the Lakers know there are teams behind them that want him, and if guys like Aaron Gordon, Noah Vonleh, Dante Exum and Julius Randle are off the board, the Lakers may take Stauskas with the intention of flipping him in a trade.
