Owner Michael Jordan thanked Higgins for his seven years of service in a statement.
"Rod has been a consummate professional throughout his time with the team. Thanks to his hard work and commitment, we have an improved roster and we are poised for success in the future. Rod was of great help to me as I navigated my first four years as majority owner of this franchise. I wish him all the best."
Higgins once played with Michael Jordan and worked with Jordan with the Washington Wizards. And now Jordan has forced him to resign (or, if you prefer, fired him because that’s what really happened). Sports can be such a cruel cruel business.
The Hornets will now go into the draft with a new front office make-up. Nothing like a little front office chaos leading right into the draft. Michael Jordan is still showing that, as an executive, he’s kind of clueless. But he’s Michael Jordan so he can do whatever he wants and no one can question him. Must be nice.
