Throughout much of this one, the Horned Frogs were able to cling to a 1-0 lead they grabbed off a sacrifice fly off the bat of Boomer White that was able to score Cody Jones.
Then, in the eighth inning with time running out, it appeared the wheels were beginning to fall off.
Texas Tech got themselves two runs in the top of the eighth inning, including one coming off a fielding error on a throw to first base.
With their backs against the wall in the bottom of the eighth inning, though, the Horned Frogs pulled through. After Cory Jones was able to advance to second base off a fielding error, Boomer White came up huge again, singling to left field and bringing in Jones for what would be the winning score.
Riley Ferrell got the win in this one as he came in with one out in the seventh inning and struck out two the rest of the way while walking none and giving up one earned run.
Now, the Horned Frogs will await the winner of tonight’s game between the Ole Miss Rebels and Vanderbilt Commodores.
