By Jack Crosby
The Louisville Cardinals have been one of the more consistent college baseball programs of the past few years, and that led many to believe that they had a legitimate shot at taking the national championship this year in Omaha.

Well, that won’t be happening as the Cardinals were eliminated on Monday night in their loser’s bracket game against the Texas Longhorns in the College World Series by a final score of 4-1.
The Louisville bats were blanked in this one, and that was all due to the stellar outing by Texas starting pitcher Parker French. Through 7.1 innings of work, French only allowed four hits and struck out three batters en route to getting the huge win for Texas as they keep their championship dreams alive in Omaha.
Collin Shaw led the Longhorns at the plate in this one, going 2-for-4, the only Texas player that notched more than one hit.
In one last act of desperation to save their season, Louisville did not score their lone run until the bottom of the eighth inning, but that was all they could amass in this one as they now have to head back home and wait for next year.
As for Texas, they move on and will next face either UC Irvine or Vanderbilt.
