J.J. Hardy finds unique way to celebrate his first HR of the season (video)

Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy is not used to this. He did not get his first home run of the 2014 season until his 245th at bat. This coming from a guy who has 158 career home runs.
So when he got back to the dugout and his teammates gave him the “silent treatment”, he improvised.
I can’t say that I have ever seen anyone celebrate a home run with sunflower seeds before, but it definitely provided a nice laugh.
This could be something for you to try the next time your teammates give you the silent treatment after a home run. However, it is not recommended for use on significant others for silent treatment.
Hardy’s home run was part of a four home run onslaught against the Yankees in the 6-1 Orioles win.

Nelson Cruz hit his major league leading 23rd home run after a Jones walk in the fourth inning to put the Birds up 3-0 on Nuno.
Steven Pearce added another two run shot in the fifth inning, also off of Nuno, to put Baltimore up 5-1.
Then it was Hardy’s turn. His solo shot came off of Jose Ramirez with one out in the eighth.
The only Yankee run was also scored via home run when Mark Teixeira took Bud Norris deep in the fourth inning.
