Jets’ owner Woody Johnson on expanding the NFL Playoffs: I like the idea of more games
By Jack Crosby
One of the more pressing issues that has been discussed this NFL offseason has been the theory that the playoff format should undergo a bit of change. More specifically, there have been widespread talks about actually expanding the playoffs going forward, adding two more teams to the group.

Of course, as with any issue such as this, you get responses from both sides of the fence. Some believe that expanding the playoffs would be good for the league, mainly in the revenue department, while there are some that say it would water down the race for the Lombardi Trophy by adding in mediocre teams.
Well, we now know how New York Jets owner Woody Johnson feels about the idea: He likes it.
“There are good arguments on both sides, and I haven’t gone into it in maybe the depth that we will,” Johnson said this week at Jets minicamp, per The Star Ledger. “We’re going to study it hard. But I kind of like it. I kind of like the idea of more playoff games. We’re still below other sports (in terms of the number of teams that make the playoffs).”
Well this isn’t really all that surprising at all, especially when you consider that the Jets tend to be one of those middle-of-the-road teams that could benefit a few times from playoff expansion.
