The Golden State Warriors are the odds on favorites to land Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love.

More from Golden State Warriors

The Warriors would reportedly be sending a package involving guard Klay Thompson, power forward David Lee and other assets, possibly a first round pick or young forwards like Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green. The Timberwolves would send Love and the contract of guard Kevin Martin back to the Warriors (Of course there are some holdups – the Warriors reportedly still don’t want to trade Thompson and they don’t want to take Martin back).

In the latest scenario, the Los Angeles Lakers would actually be receiving Thompson while the seventh-overall pick, which would go to the Timberwolves.

According to Eric Pincus, the Timberwolves want more than Lee and the seventh-overall pick for Love, among others.

Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc and 79.5% from the charity stripe. In the postseason, he put up 16.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8% from the field, 36.4% from three and 79.2% from the free throw line.

The Timberwolves are right to ask for as much as they can. Love is one of the game’s elite players and the Timberwolves really do not have to trade him now – they have until the trade deadline to reach a deal.
