Chargers rookies Jason Verrett, Chris Watt and Jerry Attaochu got their first big moment in the spotlight Saturday night, throwing out the three-way ceremonial first pitch before the San Diego Padres game.

More from Los Angeles Chargers

Everything went well for Watt and Attaochu. But Jason Verrett…he had himself a little bit of a 50 Cent moment.

Verrett is in the middle in the above video, and as you can see, the ball didn’t quite make it all the way to the plate. Unless bouncing counts. Dear Jason Verrett, it’s baseball, not bowling. You’re supposed to get it there on the fly, in case you don’t know.

Verrett claimed on his Instagram account that the terrible throw was the result of a bad shoulder. Well that’s a better excuse than the one 50 Cent gave. I’m not sure I buy the excuse, but at least he didn’t bring masturbation into the conversation.

One thing I know for sure: when it comes time for the Chargers to identify potential emergency quarterbacks, Jason Verrett’s name should immediately be crossed off the list. He can’t throw. At all.

Philip Rivers is in no danger.
