NHL Schedule release: Kings vs. Sharks will be season opener
By Josh Hill
The NHL season just wrapped up not too long ago but the league is wasting no time in getting us all ready for the next season. Having just won the Stanley Cup, the Los Angeles Kings will be opening up their 2014-15 season against a familiar rival as the San Jose Sharks will be coming to the Staples Center to kick off not only their season and the Kings’ season, but the entire NHL season as a whole.

According to NHL.com, the Kings will open up their defense of the Stanley Cup at home in the season opener against the Sharks.
While it seems blasphemous that the NHL season be kicked off with two teams from California, the game is one of the best rivalries in hockey at the moment and will still have fresh memories — or wounds, if your San Jose — from the playoff meeting both teams had just a month ago.
In that series, the Kings mounted their first of what turned out to be a few huge comebacks to not only win games but win the series a whole. It was a historic comeback for the Kings in their series against the Sharks and it ended up being the first step on their road to a second Stanley Cup victory.
San Jose’s roster will likely look very different in 2014-15, but the bad blood will still be there and the NHL will see the puck drop on it’s season with a doozy of a matchup.
