The Washington Nationals may have been looking for a change in their fortunes. Or maybe they were just looking for some relief on a hot night. Or maybe they are trying to become the studliest team in MLB.

More from MLB

For whatever reason, the Nationals decided to take the field Friday night with their top uniform buttons undone, giving fans a tantalizing glimpse of Nationals chest hair.

Kevin Frandsen for one enjoyed the change. When asked what it was like playing a game with his chest hair out, Frandsen said (via the Washington Post), “It was awesome. It’s liberating.”

Despite the obvious assumptions, the Nationals say they weren’t looking for a change in luck by going with the open-button look. When asked for the motivation behind the switch Frandsen said, “No reason. Just did it.”

When asked if the look could come back at a later date Frandsen replied mischievously, “You never know. We didn’t know until we did it. It could happen again. We’ll keep you guys on your toes.”

I’ll say this about the Nationals chest hair trend: at least it’s not Zubaz.
