At the Giants game Monday night, a fan sitting up the third base line takes a foul ball right in the mush. Replay shows that he actually got hit after the ball bounced away from another fan sitting a row up.
Here’s where things get touching and human: the fan who missed the catch, causing the ball to carom right into the other guy’s face, feels really bad about his terrible fielding.
He expresses understandable concern for the poor guy who got hit in the face as a result of his butterfingers. Within moments, the two fans are taking a picture together, shaking hands, pretty much bro-ing out.
You can tell by their initial body language that they didn’t know each other before this encounter. By the end of it, they look like they could be life-long pals.
Bonding over a foul ball to the face? It’s beautiful. It’s magical. It’s what sports is all about.
