The Los Angeles Clippers are looking at making a serious run at signing LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony this summer, but their roster isn’t the only thing they’re looking to shore up.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

Doc Rivers’ staff is something that the team is wanting to fortify as a run at a title in 2014-15 and the re-branding of the team after the Donald sterling fiasco is going to be something that brings about change at all levels.

It’s not that the Clippers think Rivers isn’t doing a solid job, he just needs help keeping his bench as tight as it can be and that’s where former Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics bench player Brian Scalabrine comes into play. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Clippers have interest in adding Scalabrine to Rivers’ staff.

We’ve also heard Mo Cheeks mentioned as a possible assistant but Scalabrine is a solid option as well. Not only is he loved by fan bases no matter where he goes, but he has a rich history with Doc Rivers and the Celtics — something that the Clippers hope can carry over on their staff.

He hasn’t been hired yet, but Scalabrine is a name to watch after his dismissal from the Golden State Warriors staff this past year and a spot on the Clippers staff might be the big break he needs.
