It’s all but a known fact that on Thursday night, former Kansas center Joel Embiid will not be the no. 1 overall player selected in the NBA Draft like he was supposed to be, this coming on the heels of his broken foot which required surgery. That injury just added to medical concerns that already lingered with the young Embiid and his back.

Anytime you have health issues with someone so young, it’s going to raise red flags, and there is no reason, really, that he should be taken top overall.

However, with that said, there seems to be a lot of other folks out there that believe Embiid can get past all of this and become a great player down the road. Of course, to know this, you would have to have a good look at his medical history, which only a few teams do at the moment.

Right now, the Lakers, Cavaliers, Bucks, Celtics and 76ers are the only teams with access to those records, which have apparently become more valuable than first thought.

Some teams are so inclined to know what they can get out of Embiid in the future, should they select him, that according to Jake Fischer of the Boston Globe, they’re offering to purchase the medical history of Embiid.

Of course, this doesn’t seem like something very normal, however Fischer went on to add that it’s actually more common than we think, just usually kept on the hush-hush.
