The Boston Celtics were on the clock with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and they selected James Young of Kentucky to go along with Marcus Smart, who they selected with their earlier pick in the draft lottery.

Young is a raw player that leaves a lot to be desired on the defensive end of the court, but he does have enough potential to make his impact felt down the road.
If there is one positive note on Young, it is the fact that he has a nice stroke and impressive jumper.
Young could provide some energy off of the bench and help to boost an offense with his willingness to shoot, but he will be a defensive liability and that will likely hurt his ability to see extended playing time during his rookie campaign.
