It’s no secret that the Boston Celtics have been looking to overhaul the franchise, and that process has included the talk of trading star guard Rajon Rondo, possibly some time Thursday night either before or during the draft. Well, it appears that the Sacramento Kings may be willing to oblige.

According to Marc Heisler, the Celtics are in talks with the Kings to acquire their no. 8 overall pick. Should they be able to make this deal happen, then with their sixth overall pick they own, they would take one of two players that they have been high on as of late, either Marcus Smart or Elfrid Payton.
This would be one of the biggest blockbuster moves of the entire event, mainly because it would officially signal the new era in Boston with Rondo leaving to head out west; but again, there are a lot of people that expect him to be gone soon anyway.
The Celtics have been very high on Marcus Smart, in particular, which would make that move to get him at no. 6 very plausible. The workouts with him went very well and Danny Ainge seemed quite pleased with the way the two-year Oklahoma State star performed.
We could be in for a wild NBA Draft Day.
