The NBA Draft is tonight and the teams at the top of the order are starting to zero in on who they want to take and where they want to take them. For the Utah Jazz, we’ve been hearing more and more about their plans to trade up into the No. 1 spot in the draft but it seems that they’re not going to be able to pull that off.

In fact, the Jazz have technically already failed to land the No. 1 pick as the pre-draft trade deadline has passed meaning that the draft order is set and solidified. But while they can still agree to a trade that lands them the player that is taken No. 1 overall, Utah seems to be settling in at No. 5 and will want to take who they can at that position.
Who that ends up being might turn out to be Oklahoma State point guard Marcus Smart — which would be the first draft shocker of the night if it happened.

Smart hasn’t been on the Jazz radar at all, in fact he hasn’t even worked out for them at all and taking him would be a completely out of the blue situation for Utah. Still, he’s being considered as perhaps the best guard prospect int he draft which means the Jazz wouldn’t be taking Smart for no good reason — assuming that they do.
