NBA Rumors: 76ers comparing Joel Embiid to Tim Duncan David Robinson
By Josh Hill
The Philadelphia 76ers were a historically bad team last season and they didn’t even end up with the No. 1 overall pick to make themselves feel better about it. What they did do though is walk away from the draft with a lot going for them as the future depends on the health of big man Joel Embiid.

It’s not that the 76ers will crumble if Embiid fails, it’s that the team is already setting the bar extremely high for the new crop of rookies trying to make it in the NBA. In speaking about his new big man, 76ers head coach Brett Brown instantly began comparing Embiid and Nerlens Noel to the Tim Duncan and David Robinson dup that San Antonio Spurs had back in the late 90s.
It’s understandable that the 76ers are stoked about their new additions but to instantly begin comparing them to one of the most dynamic duos in basketball history is a pretty huge stretch.
Then again, Brown could be referring to the fact that the 76ers may win a title and have one of the two big men retire, since Philly drafted both player not knowing if they’ll ever be who we thought they might be at the NBA level.
