The Philadelphia Flyers are hosting the NHL Draft this year but their front office is as busy as ever trying to wheel and deal their way back to the top of the Eastern Conference.

More from NHL

One way to do that is to make some moves and the Flyers are currently looking to trade one of their players before free agency kicks off on July 1st. Vincent Lecavalier came over in the offseason from Tampa Bay but it appears that his stay in Philly may be coming to an end.

As TSN’s Darren Dreger noted a few days ago, the Flyers trading Lecavalier is something both sides seem to want but is something that might not happen until after he gets a $2 million bonus, if at all.

The Flyers need cap space and they need it badly as they have virtually no money to go out and use in free agency this year and they’ll have plenty of holes to fill. The draft isn’t going ot give them much help either as most player selected from this point on aren’t going to be NHL-ready for a few years at best.

Lecavalier’s contract isn’t going to be easy to move, but the Flyers are no doubt trying to do that and perhaps paying him a $2 million bonus will help take the edge off for teams who want to pay the least amount possible for Lecavalier in a trade.
