When the Houston Rockets declined their option for the 2014-2015 season, many were surprised.

More from Houston Rockets

Parsons’ deal was worth just $964,750 so it was widely believed they would pick it up. Instead, the Rockets have made Parsons a restricted free agent. Although Parsons will be able to test the market on Tuesday, the Rockets will still ultimately have the final decision on Parsons because they can match any offer sheet he signs.

Apparently, that decision has already been made.

According to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle, the Rockets will in fact be matching any offer sheet Parsons signs.

"When they get down to discussing how the Rockets believe they will be able to build a winner, they will also reveal their plans for Parsons, a 6-9 forward. The Rockets passed on picking up their option on Parsons’ contract Monday, but made him a qualifying offer. That will make Parsons, 25, a restricted free agent, with the Rockets able to match any offer sheet he signs.Morey on several occasions has said simply Parsons will be back, anyway, but a person with knowledge of the Rockets’ pitch said that when the Rockets describe the team they will include Parsons among the teammates Anthony could join."

The Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves are all interested in Parsons and several other teams will likely emerge as well.

Parsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 47.2% from the field, 37.0% from beyond the arc and 74.2% from the free throw line this season.
