The NBA Free Agency period began last night, and the frenzy immediately erupted in front offices around the country as teams attempt to bolster their squads moving forward. One team apparently doing quite a lot of shopping late last night was the Boston Celtics.

According to reports, the Celtics contacted 30 players last night, including Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons:
The Celtics seemed poised to make a few big free agency moves this offseason in order to improve from their poor season last year where they did not make the playoffs in a weak Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately for the Celtics, they may find it quite difficult to sign Hayward as the Utah Jazz have announced they would match any offer, including a max deal, given to Hayward in order to keep him in a Jazz uniform. Although Hayward would ultimately have the choice of where to play, it would be unlikely for the Celtics to offer him a max contract.
As for Chandler Parsons, the Celtics would love to scoop up the former Florida Gator during the free agency period. Parsons is coming off back to back seasons where he proved to be a real scoring threat in Houston, averaging about 16 points per game while adding about 5 rebounds as well. He also improved his defense immensely over the last three years, and has become an all around excellent player.
