The NBA Free Agency period officially opened on Tuesday morning, and Carmelo Anthony was immediately one of the most coveted stars on the open market.

More from Chicago Bulls

Anthony made his first free agent visit to Chicago, where he met with team executives and coaches before going out for dinner with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

In Chicago, Anthony would team up with Rose and Noah to create a “Big Three,” but the team views another player as a very key part of the franchise moving forward. That person is forward Taj Gibson.

If the Bulls want to sign Anthony, then they will need to hang on to Taj Gibson.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Gibson is prominent in the talks with Anthony, because the team is trying to see him on the idea of a “Big Four.”

With Anthony, Rose, Noah and Gibson in the Windy City, the Bulls would certainly have a core group of players that would be capable of competing with and beating anyone else in the league.
