They already have some talent on the roster but they’re not done trying to find it where they can and that has led them down a road that might end with New Orleans landing Jameer Nelson on the open market.
Pelicans among the many teams that have inquired about Jameer Nelson since his release. But he's in holding pattern like almost everyone.

Nelson was bought out but the Orlando Magic in June and as a result he will be looking for work this offseason with a contending team likely where he wants to end up. That’s not what the Pelicans are at the moment but adding a veteran like Nelson wouldn’t be the worst way to try and get the boost the team needs.
There’s a lot of young talent on the Pelicans roster but not a whole lot of veteran presence. That’s something that Nelson could help provide but there’s also nothing saying he’s going to be signing with the Pelicans this summer.
