On Tuesday it was announced that San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills would be missing a significant amount of time, about seven months worth, with a shoulder injury. With the free agency period just opening up, and Mills hitting the market, this could be devastating news to any number of players and their futures.

Well, it’s not that devastating when you’re Mills and you play for a loyal organization like the Spurs, and that was proven on Wednesday as Mills and the team struck a three-year deal that will keep him with the defending champions.
Mills performed rather well for the Spurs in their run to the playoffs, that culminated a few weeks ago with a dominating performance in the NBA Finals against the two-time defending champion Miami Heat and their Big Three. Mills averaged seven points from his point guard position and shot 41% from three point range.
Because of that, he was already going to be in high demand, and not even his recent health setback stopped him from getting a new deal, which once again, you have to give credit to the Spurs for being a top-notch organization, top-to-bottom.
