In the wake of their decision to ship Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks are hoping to add another big man, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Knicks have limited financial flexibility, and are therefore hoping their mini mid-level exception worth $3.3 million is enough to bring another contributor to the Big Apple.

Berman mentions Trevor Booker as a name the Knicks are already pursuing, as well as a few other possible targets.

"Other potential big-man targets are former Knick first-round picks Jordan Hill and Channing Frye, and ex-Net Kris Humphries. The pie-in-the-sky signing would be Pau Gasol, who already is talking to Miami and made $17 million with the Lakers last season."

Those names all make a lot of sense for the Knicks.

Booker ,26, is a young power forward that showed a lot of promise with the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 6.8 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Hill is another young option with potential.  The 26-year-old only played 20.8 minutes per game with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, yet averaged 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

While Humphries has been severely overpaid the past few years, he’s still a decent player and worth a flier.  He averaged 8.4 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Boston Celtics in 2013-14.

As for Gasol, he’s the obvious no-brainer. Although he’s nearing the end of his career at 33, he still posted 17.4 points and 9.7 rebounds with the Lakers last season.  He would be a huge piece for the Knicks.

However,  it’s hard to be believe he’d head to New York, considering he has better teams, such as the Heat, pursuing him.

However, the Knicks have Phil Jackson, and perhaps his presence is enough for Gasol to take an enormous pay cut to join the team.

Berman mentions Kenyon Martin as another option if the Knicks miss out on their mini mid-level exception targets.
