The NBA is currently neck deep in free agency but there hasn’t been a whole lot of movement one way or the other when it comes to any signings outside of role players.

More from Brooklyn Nets

At his age, it’s hard to say if Paul Pierce has been relegated to role player status yet but the Brooklyn Nets aren’t going to treat him like anything less than a star. There have been discussions about a possible sign-and-trade between Brooklyn and the Los Angeles Clippers that would reunite Pierce with his former coach from the Boston Celtics, Doc Rivers.

According to Billy King, via Nets beat writer Stefan Bondy, no such talks will be moving forward at this point.

This, of course, doesn’t mean we won’t see movement on a possible deal in the future but it does mean that talks right now are going nowhere. Brooklyn isn’t really sure where they want to go in free agency and the chips won’t start to fall until later on next week when Carmelo Anthony decides what he is going to do and teams start making moves on other free agents currently sitting in limbo.

Pierce may very well be traded at some point but now is not that time and the Nets are clearly waiting things out with the rest of the NBA before making any big moves.
