Pelicans Rumors: New Orleans in contact with Jameer Nelson
By Josh Hill
The New Orleans Pelicans fell way short of the playoffs in a super competitive Western Conference but they’re trying to make strides this offseason to make sure they’re at least in the hunt longer next year than they were this past year.

According to John Reid from NOLA.com, the Pelicans are looking at free agent guard Jameer Nelson, which seems to be in line with other reports from this past week that have suggested the former Orlando Magic veteran is on New Orleans’ radar this offseason.
"Though the Pelicans have been quiet so far in free agency, Demps has contacted the representatives of veteran unrestricted point guard Jameer Nelson, sources confirmed. The Pelicans have also showed interest in Rockets restricted guard Troy Daniels."
Nelson is the type of veteran that is going to get some decent attention on the open market thanks to the way he can fit into a locker room from a leadership standpoint. He was never a robust leader in Orlando but he helped guide the team as best he could given what was around him and he knows how to win in the right situation.
New Orleans is dangerously close to being what the Magic are at the moment, but there’s a ton of upside to their roster and that’s something that a veteran like Nelson can help add substance to with his skills and knowledge.
