McCarthy is known, among other things, for his witty comments on Twitter. He has built up the kind of reputation on social media that lands him on numerous ‘top sports follows on Twitter’ type lists as he interacts with fans on topics ranging from his own career to soccer to current events outside of sports.
Not far behind him on the list of noteworthy follows on Twitter is his wife Amanda. Many people enjoy the comical exchanges between them on Twitter, something that held true after the news of the trade became official on Sunday morning. That starts with the initial reaction from the 6’7″, 200 pound pitcher.
Yankee pinstripes, awesome. Very slimming but awesome.

That was followed by another, far more entertaining observation about the move to the Yankees and what it means for McCarthy’s appearance.
Haha @BMcCarthy32 you have to shave that nasty thing growing on your face! I WIN

It wasn’t all kidding around though.
Truly overwhelmed by all the nice tweets. Thank you everyone in AZ who welcomed us. I appreciate all the support you showed our family. Xoxo

For his part, Brandon McCarthy earned fame among baseball writers and nerds because of his decision to embrace analytics to turn his career around while with the Oakland Athletics. It was shortly thereafter that he and his wife became a famous baseball couple thanks to their appearance on the cover of ESPN the Magazine and subsequent popularity on Twitter.
Now they will both take their talents to the biggest stage in New York for what the Yankees hope is a run to the playoffs.
