According to Nick DePaula, the number one overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft in Andrew Wiggins has reached a deal with Adidas.
Prior to the NBA Draft it was reported that Nike wanted their hand at signing the Canadian prodigy, but it looks like the two sides couldn’t agree to a deal.

After a standout season at the University of Kansas, Wiggins was awarded by being drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Alongside Kyrie Irving, Wiggins is expected to be a key figure in the Cavaliers franchise returning to prominence as they’ve fluttered since LeBron James’ exit to Miami. There’s even a chance that James could join the two stars as he’s currently mulling over his free agency options, with Cleveland being one of the teams in contention to land his services.
Hopefully throughout his career, Wiggins can avoid the “Adidas Curse” as many big name athletes (Derrick Rose, Robert Griffin III, Rajon Rondo, etc.) have injured themselves while wearing Adidas merchandise.
Wiggins join a lengthy list of NBA players who’ve signed an endorsement deals with Adidas including fellow 2014 draftee Dante Exum, 2011 NBA MVP Derrick Rose, three-time Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard, 2013 Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard, and five-time NBA champion Tim Duncan.
Other Adidas notables include two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker, Grammy-winning artist Pharrell Artist, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin, track-and-field star Tyson Gay, and Def Jam recording artist Big Sean.
