There is always a lot of controversy surrounding the NFL Network’s Top 100 Countdowns prior to the season, and there has been since they started airing the program back in 2011. However, most times, you can’t really find a good argument against the player that is voted no. 1 overall, and it’s the same story this year as Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has landed at the top overall slot.

Despite the horrible loss in the Super Bowl this past February to the Seattle Seahawks, looking at last season’s body of work heading into that game, no one can argue that the legend is playing some of the best football than he ever has in his career.
Last season as the Broncos bulldozed their way through the regular season, Manning rewrote the NFL record books, tossing for 55 touchdowns and 5,477 yards. Plus, because of that performance, when the season was over Manning took home an unprecedented fifth NFL MVP trophy, and rightfully so.
Right now, Manning is undoubtedly one of the greatest to ever step under center and run an offense, and in some people’s eyes, he already has solidified himself as the greatest signal caller to ever play the game.
With a revamped defense, there is a good chance that Manning will get another shot at that Lombardi Trophy in 2014, and he will make that come to fruition if he lives up to the billing as the no. 1 player in the entire NFL, as he has been voted by his peers.
