Brian Cushing says he will be ready for Houston Texans’ opener
Brian Cushing has been a dominant force as a linebacker when he is on the field for the Houston Texans, but the issue is keeping him on the field in one piece.

In the last two seasons, Cushing has played a total of 12 games in a Texans uniform thanks in large part to two brutal injuries. In 2012, Cushing tore his ACL, leading him to being placed on the injured reserve list and cutting his season short. Last year, Cushing broke his fibula due to a low block from Jamaal Charles, which once again ended his season prematurely.
Now that the 2014 season is just about two months away from kickoff, Cushing is confident that he will be ready to suit up for the Texans opening game of the season (Courtesy of NFL.com):
"I know I’ll be ready. I know when it’s go-time, and I need to ramp it up and get on the field, I’ll be there. It’s been a tough two years, but I’m ready to put it behind me and have a great year. I feel good, and I’m just excited about the opportunity and the things ahead of us for this team."
Cushing won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2009, but since then has been unable to stay healthy. With the tandem of JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney on the defensive line for the Texans, a healthy Cushing behind those men could prove to make the Texans a very dangerous defense in the upcoming season for opposing teams.
