Although free agents were able to sign their contracts last night, it appears that Nowitzki has yet to do so according to reports.
Donnie Nelson, the General Manager and president of basketball operations for the Mavericks, told reporters that Dirk, as well a Devin Harris, have yet to sign their contracts as of today.
Although Dirk has not signed the dotted line, there should be no fear from Mavericks fans as to whether or not Dirk will return to the team next year. In fact, Dirk was willing to take a paycut in order to help the Mavericks pick up a marquee free agent.
Expect Dirk to sign his final contract in the coming days and finish out his legendary career with the team he has been with since the 1998 draft day trade that sent him to the Mavericks.
Even though his career is dwindling, Nowitzki has continued to play impressively. Last year Dirk averaged 21.7 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the floor. His three point shooting was as hot as ever, as he shot nearly 40 percent from beyond the line. Dirk will undoubtedly be a first ballot hall of famer when he ultimately decides to call it quits.
