Houston Texans sport most expensive NFL preseason tickets
By Cory Buck
The Houston Texans sported the worst record in the NFL last season, but that hasn’t stopped them from selling hope to their fans in 2014. With a new coach, a new defensive star, and plenty of talent still on the roster, it’s not the toughest sell for a 2-14 team to make. Still, no one realized the price would be so high on hope.

The Texans not only join lofty company in the big-market game of absurd ticket prices, but their preseason ticket prices actually exceed annual big boys New York Giants and New England Patriots, per The Street. The average ticket price for a home Texans preseason game on the secondary market is currently $132. That’s eight dollars more than second-best New York and nearly $100 more than those for the Buffalo Bills.
It seems like quite a bit to pay to watch a team whose best quarterback is probably Ryan Fitzpatrick play a meaningless game, but such is life in big-market Houston these days. It’s one of the fastest growing cities in America and one of the ten most populated cities in the country, so it makes sense that the demand is there. It just seems that teams that put up a record as bad as the Texans did last season would have more trouble drawing tickets. Not so in Houston.
The Texans play their first preseason game at home against the Atlanta Falcons — their second of August — before wrapping up their preseason schedule at home against the San Francisco 49ers. Tickets, obviously, are still available.
